Nice shot. I've been working at taking all kinds of these "collections" shots. The red brick really sets it off. Did you also try a wider angle shot? I wonder if I would have liked it better.

This photo does not give you any reference as to the scale of the rocks. Truth be told, this is a very small collection of rocks. The whole frame in real life was about 2"x 31/2", tops. I took the photo with my macro 180mm lens with an extension tub on it. I was trying to simplify the shot by reducing the amount of rocks in the photo and convey the idea of the odd man out. I think the photo would have lost visual impact if I had backed off and incorporated more of the grey rocks. I framed the shot to make it look like the grey rocks where crushing and oppressing the orange/red piece of brick.
