Not sure what this bug is called but he caught my eye when I was looking at the milkweeds. Not may things eat the milkweed plant because of the toxic white liquid the leaves execrate when cut into. Being red in color, I doubt this guy has many enemies. Probably tastes real bad to those that would make a meal of him!

Mushroom on a wet Beach Burl Log in Waterworks Park. Right after taking this photo it really started raining, I had to pack it in and go back to the truck. The rain kept coming down so we (Guild Members) decided to go for breakfast early. The rain had stopped by the time we had finished breakfast so we went back to the park to photograph some more. When I got back to the log this mushroom shriveled up to nothing. Im glad I got the photo when I did!

Missed opportunity! While I was working on the macro shots of the little green bug below, two young deer walked right in front of me. The time it took me to get the camera off the tripod and focused all I got was deer butt and the jumping deer photo below! There is a lesson to be learned here! Continually be aware of your environment and expect the unexpected. The other lesson is always have two cameras; one set for macro work the other for the big picture. The big hurtle will be convincing Wendy this is why I need to buy the new Nikon D2X.
